"The News"

After two long years, Davis took me back to 5C, where it all began, and we decided to make it official...

We're getting married... HOLLA!
(We're not sure when yet... We didn't want to rush into anything... We're just taking baby steps in the right direction...)

"All I Want for Christmas"

My favorite Christmas song, hands down, is... gasp... Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas." Every year, during the month of December, I listen to this song hundreds and hundreds of times. It always makes me so happy, and since I've listened to it for so many years, every time I listen to it, millions of fun memories come rushing into my head. One of my favorite memories is documented below...When I lived in SLC we got a little crazy with the karaoke machine, and I'm pretty sure there were some people who wanted to kill me because of my love that mic!

PS... I also really like N'Sync's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays." Is it sad that I'm such a sucker for cheesy pop songs??

"Can I Have This Dance"

Sometimes we go to parties and drop it like it's hot...

Ali removes her head from her body.
I unhinge my jaw.
And Liz closes her eyes and hopes that it will soon be over.
HOLLA!

"In The Heights"

I finally saw In The Heights, and surprise, surprise, I really liked it.Karen and I didn't win the lottery (I NEVER win those things. I think I'm bad luck.), so we bought limited view seats and were on the third row. They really were actually pretty good seats. I like to sit close so that I can see the performer's faces. Shortly after the show started, I realized I recognized one of the performers, and I was obsessed with watching her the rest of the show...

Do you know what she's from??? Do you want me to tell you???
Remember when everyone went to Yale on GG? And remember how Nate told everyone that his name was Dan, and he made out with that girl?? Well, that's her baby! I guess some of Davis' skills are rubbing off on me. Holla!

"Say You Miss Me"

Last weekend Karen came to visit, and it basically made me sad that we never lived together when she was here, and that she still doesn't live here. BOO!

We had some fun at the shops at Bryant Park...
Of course, Sunday dinner at Patsy's...

And more dinner....

I really felt like we were back to our old weekends of hanging out, wandering around the city, and wasting time together... Karen.. COME BACK! I don't know how I'm getting by without you.

"Marriage Protest"

Every year the NYC stake does a film festival called "Lingos." As I'm sure you can imagine, some of the films are really great, as there a lot of talented/creative people living here, and others are, well, not so great. This year we decided there were three great films, and this was one of them... Don't be scared by the opening screen (we kind of didn't know what to expect)... Ryan is hilarious.

"Don't Drink, Don't Smoke"

A conversation at work:

Coworker: "Melissa, are you going to to work holiday party."

Me: "I'm planning on it."

CW: "Oh, good. I'm excited to get wasted with you!!"

Me: "Oh, I'm not much of a drinker."

CW: "Oh really, why not?"

Me: "I'm just not really into it."

CW: "Oh no! The only reason I was going was to see you drunk and hang out with you wasted!!"

Me: "Sorry to disappoint you baby cakes."

I guess I'm breaking hearts one sober night at a time.

"Everywhere"

Somehow Saturday turned out to be a pretty nice day... Despite freezing my brains out we had fun... Brunch with visitors... Errands with Davis... Dinner with Ron...Vampire Weekend with Davis...

Can I just say that Vampire Weekend was a really good show... Really, really, really good show. I went in with no expectations and came out with some fun tunes, a rockin' Fleetwood Mac cover, and a new crush... Seriously... Ezra is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

After the show I headed downtown for Ali's early birthday party. There's nothing better than a midnight showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Good times, eh?

Oh yeah, and to top it all off... We had our first snow of the year, and it was so fun to be out walking around in the flurries. Christmas is here!

"Half a World Away"

Here's some more pics from out trip to Peru...

The beginning of the trail... Before we knew what we were getting into.

Pinkie and Me...

It felt like we were on top of the world...

We made it to Warme Wausca, a mere 14,000 ft. above sea level... It was pretty awesome to be done with that climb.
We saw some llamas along the way...
The first views of MP...

It's crazy that there are people who live along the trail. Here's a view of one of the mini villages we passed.

Drinks to celebrate the last night.

Views of ruins...

Our crew...

I'm glad I didn't have to carry this baby the whole way...

The spread...

The bathroom in some ruins...

My mom and I...

The bus ride to the train... Happy to be done!

Cutie pie with a sucker from Sid.

Cutie pie school kids..

We woke up one morning and this boy came running over with his soccer ball. He wanted us to play with him. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen. There's nothing like a 5am game of soccer.

More cute babies... Can you tell I couldn't get over them?

You guys ready to do it again??

"The Chain"

Somebody was pretty excited to make a countdown chain for an undisclosed event...
For some reason the excitement over removing a link each day cracks me up.

"Southern Cross"

So we got back to the mother-land yesterday...
There was a little post-trip stress when I missed my connection in Atlanta. I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown when I heard people talking about being stuck at the airport for two days, luckily, I made a little friend at the ticket counter, and he gave me a first class ticket on the next flight out of there! Other than that, everything pretty much went perfectly, and we made it out alive. Holla!

Here are some pics of the last week of my life... It was amazing.

The boots that got me over those 14,000 foot peaks...

The view from 14,000 foot peaks...

These little guys were running all over the place...

Some more views...

My mom was insistent that I take lots of flower pics...

Here's another from the order of Pinkie...

Fancy rice for energy....

After four days of hiking we finally made it... You have not idea how good this view felt...
Machu Pichu...

More of MP....

And some more...

The train that took us back...

I couldn't resist one of this little guy... I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home...

When our guide was telling us about churches, the Mormon church was one of the first he mentioned. I asked him if he sees the missionaries, and he said, "You mean the elders?" He went on for a minute about them. I was blown away that there are SIX LDS churches in Cusco. Crazy, right? This one was super nice, and we happened to walk by right when church was getting out. It was fun to chat with a couple of the members.

Cusco streets..

Cusco churches...

Cute guy on the bench...

More of the bench...

I couldn't get over this little girl. She was practicing her English with us while we sat on that bench. She said, "Where are you from?" We responded, "The USA," and she said, "Obama is very good, Bush is very bad." It was kind of crazy how many people were into Obama down there, but back to this little cutie.. I can't get over her.
Don't you worry... There will be more pics to come!
