"The Simpsons"

It had been with us for 41 years....

On Saturday we said goodbye to what made him Ned Flanders.....

Dad,
You're lookin' good! I can't believe you really did it! I was hoping you'd hold out for Oprah -- I'm sure she would have loved to shave it for you, but I'm excited about the change and can't wait to see it in person.

Now there are two big questions we need answered... Are you going to grow it back? And is Peter still going to call you Ned? I guess only time will tell.

"Creep" again...

At least I wasn't eating this....

"Creep"

Yesterday we hadn't eaten the whole freakin' day so Davis and I decided to go get some yummy food... We went to Odeon, down in Tribeca...
Everything was going fine, until Davis whipped this out and I about peed my pants...
Look at all of 'em! Every time he pulled one out I had to cover my eyes and try to recover from the shock. We were laughing pretty hard about it.

I think everybody in the place thought we were crazy tourists because we kept taking pictures.
Anyways, I like to make myself try crazy food... It's kinda a fun game... Here I am forcing myself to put the little creepy in my mouth... I honestly started shaking when he got in there....

Then I had to cover my mouth to keep it in... He was a pretty good little critter... But every time I chewed I just kept thinking of his legs and I got a little nauseous...
I think my reactions kinda freaked Davis out... He had a hard time getting his down too....

"Summer Time"

While Matt and Annie were visiting we went to Cafe Havana, a favorite.

We were sitting there eating dinner, and Davis, being the celebrity spotting machine that he is, spotted Haley Duff.

This is funny on a couple levels: 1. Davis, a 29 year old, male spotted and recognized Haley Duff. 2. HD is one of the few D-grade stars that Matt would actually recognize. 3. Well, 2 levels is a couple, isn't it? You get what I'm saying, the whole situation just cracked me up.

Back to the story. Davis pointed out HD, and Matt was like, "Oh Summer, from Napoleon. Let's take a picture." Meanwhile, everybody else at the table made eyes and each other, and told Matt that he wasn't allowed to take pictures, and that maybe he shouldn't be screaming "Summer" across the place, it's not very big.

Throughout dinner I'm sure we were all caught starring at her numerous times. It was kinda funny, but I just couldn't stop looking at her. I mean we're taking about Summer here, this is the big time.

Anyways, it turns out that she left right when we did, and as she was hopping in her car I got these shots of her backside. I was mad at myself for not asking for a pic with her, I mean I asked stupid CT from Real World, right, what's wrong with me? Surprisingly Haley was cuter in real life than we expected.

After the sighting, Annie was on the phone with Olivia, her 5 year old, and told her that we saw Summer. Olivia responded, "Is that movie real, mom?" Oh, how the celebrity sightings are confusing the young these days.

Just remember, stars they're just like us -- They eat in restaurants and get cabs in NYC!

"Accident"

Crazy story.

In fact, this story is so strange to me, it might not be to you, but it is to me. I think I will have the image of it happening ingrained in my brain the rest of my life. Are you ready for it?...

On Sunday, it was nice weather, we were in a good mood, bla bla bla... So Michele and I decided to take a taxi home from church, just to spoil ourselves.

We hopped in, we were in one of those taxi vans. Our driver was kinda crazy, more so than usual. In fact, his driving was kind of making me sick and a little nervous, and it takes a lot to make me nervous in the car.

Anyways, we were making a left turn on 110th and our driver turned around to look at us as he was making the turn and hit a woman. HE HIT HER, got that? I saw us hit her and was speechless, while Michele was SCREAMING, "STOP, STOP, OH MY GOSH, STOP!" The strange thing is he kept driving, and I don't know how he didn't go over the top of her. She stayed standing and when he finally stopped she just looked at him and walked off. Our driver didn't say anything and continued on driving. It was like nothing had happened. Ya know, just a normal day on the job hitting people.

I was in shock. I didn't know what to do. So being the mature people that we are Michele and I started giggling and that continued for the rest of the way home.

The End.

"Weather Storm"

A week ago today Matt, Annie, and Miles came to visit. The weather was perfect, and we took advantage of it. We walked, walked, and walked a little more. I honestly had so much fun just hanging out with them. I hope they come back soon!

We had to stop by the temple.

And do the Staten Island Ferry...
Matt and Annie in Times Square....

Since Miles was born on 9/11 we had to take him by ground zero...

I thought this one was too cute not to put up...

Matt's favorite place... FAO...

And of course, we had a few fun subway rides. I think I need to carry around a doll. People are so much nicer when you have a baby.

We visited the hippies in Strawberry Fields...

And of course... for the Nerd Bomb... The Apple Store...

I think I should be a tour guide when I graduate. I have to two day tour down to perfection!

"Gimme Shelter"

I find it interesting that at what is probably the most conservative school in the country, they don't want Cheney. Looks like the zoobs are starting to think for themselves.

"I Like Birds"

The weather here has been amazing, and the last few days we've been out and about non stop.

Tonight Davis and I went out to dinner at Tokyo Pop, maybe my favorite place in the city... Yummy, yummy, yummy, Japanese food... Anyways, it was so nice we sat outside for the first time this spring! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy... I love, love, love, this weather. It's making me in the best mood.

Anyways, after we got done with dinner Davis got a text from Ron that said, "I've got a bird in my room. Help." We ran home to find this little friend in Ron's room.

The boys, being the manly men that they are, tried to get the bird out....

v

Oh boy, I was cracking right up through the whole fiasco... By the time they finally figured out a strategy that worked the camera battery died.... But Ron can sleep peacefully tonight knowing the bird is out... Good job boys!

"Double"

So... Wednesday was a double birthday... I think Karen and Bryndee were definitely supposed to end up together... because how else could the stars align like this?

Anyways.. we made our way up to Dino BBQ for the big event. It was funny, as we were leaving the restaurant I looked around and realized we were definitely in a scary part of Harlem -- Nobody around, under an overpass, abandoned buildings allover the place, sketchy men wandering around... seriously there was nothing else appealing in sight except for the sixteen people I ventured out with and Dino itself. I kinda wonder how a place in a location like that could have an average wait of an hour every night?... Honestly, who chose to put it there. "I think we found our spot. Ya, right there, Chuck, under the overpass, surrounded by abandoned buildings, that's a perfect spot for a nice place to eat. I think Dino will bring tons of people up to 130th." I mean, apparently it worked. It just seems a little kooky to me.

Here are some pics of the night.. The usual crowd made their appearance. These pics kinda crack me up because I realize I take pictures of the same people everywhere I go, even when there are other people there. This night we were with quite a few people, but I guess it's a pretty hard cut to make to get a pic with this girl. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

"Standin In The Rain"

Saturday, after the big race, we celebrated at none other than the Cheesecake Factory . I just never ever get sick of brown bread, an unlimited supply of cherry coke, chocolate-peanut butter-cookie dough-cheesecake, and chicken madeira... Pretty tasty... It's especially fun to go in New Jersey because it's in a mall... A Real Mall... I don't go in those very often these days... Michele and I had fun with the sale rack in J.Crew while we waited to get in....

Ron and Mark kept us entertained with stories of Crazy-Girlfriend-Families... I was laughing so hard it was hurting my body....

Davis tried to think of some stories of Rulon and Pinkie to share in the fun... But I'm pretty sure you'd have to be certified crazy to compare with the stories we were hearing.
M&M... sharing the Madeira.. A classic....
As for Sunday... All I can say is RAIN RAIN RAIN.... We were really lucky it didn't rain on Saturday for the race. If it had, I wouldn't have been running.

Anyways.. here's my rain gear... If you can believe it, this isn't enough to keep me dry in the craptastic rain....
After church Kellie, Michele, and I spent 10 minutes trying to find a cab.. by the time we got one we were pretty much drenched even with the umbrellas.... When is the madness going to stop?

"Run-Around"

The big run is over! I'm super slow, and ran about 11 - 12 minute miles. I can't complain though.. 13.1 freakin miles is over!

Last night we went out to dinner at Sambuca to carb load! It was pretty freakin good. For those of you who love Bucca, it was kinda like that -- Yummy, Family-Style Italian.
We decided that we didn't get enough carbs at dinner, so we headed down to Magnolia's for more. Sometimes subway rides get long and boring, so we keep ourselves entertained by taking pictures and annoying everyone around us.

The cakes were yummy, but we still hadn't had enough so we got some banana pudding after that. I STRONGLY recommend banana pudding from Mag's.. it's pretty much amazing.
Karen and Mel with the cakes!
Our cakes got a little messy...
Pre-race jitters....

Manhattan 8th Ward runners!
We had tons of fun preparing, especially carb loading, and running the race! My only question is -- Do 2 half marathons equal 1 whole? I think the answer is YES!

"What Goes Around"

For those of you too cool to partake of Mr. Timberlake, I feel bad for you -- You're seriously missing out.

Justin's kinda had my heart from the beginning. I have to admit, "Bye, Bye, Bye" was a major guilty pleasure in high school. I can vividly remember ditching calculus just so I could watch this song as the number one video on TRL numerous times. Since then, JT's kinda taken over the world from hosting the Grammy's, to the Victoria's Fashion Show, to SNL, the list goes on and on. I mean the man can sing, dance, act, and bring the laughs -- Basically, what can't he do? All I can say is, my man has definitely become the sexiest man alive. I guess it's pretty obvious who came out of the Brit/JT stint on top (are they the only celeb couple ever to not have a couple name?)

Anyways, "What Goes Around" has been breaking in my new iPod the past couple days, and it kinda turns me on just listening to it! So, if you think you're too cool, you're not.. just partake, and see if you're not loving it by the end... Trust me, you won't regret seemingly lowering your standards.

"An Officer"

If you haven't already noticed... maWeesa has been blogging quite a bit lately. Why, you might ask? Because she's supposed to be writing a paper and can't quite force herself to do it -- Ah... the struggles of being a grad student.

Today I've been a major lurker... Why are blogs so freakin interesting? I think I'm an addict. I always think it's funny to meet people after you've lurked on their blog religiously, and you pretend not to know them. Don't judge me... Admit it, you've had that happen to you before.

Right now I'm just looking forward to being done with my paper and watching The Bachelor tonight. He's kinda sexy to look at...

"Cold Days"

For some reason New York hasn't realized that it's spring, and it's supposed to be warmer than 40 freakin' degrees.

When I reluctantly put my coat on for church yesterday.. Yes people.. On Easter Sunday I wore a coat and boots to church... Anyways, when I put my coat on I started to think about all of my winter items that helped me make it through my first east coast winter... Here are 5 things I couldn't get enough of this winter... which BTW.. I also got really great deals on....

1. My Born Boots...
I got these boots for $80 (regularly $180, I think) at Century 21. After I bought them I wondered if I'd made a good purchase or not, but let me tell you.. I LOVE THESE BOOTS! They're super fun to wear, I kinda feel like JLo when I wear them, and they're super warm and comfy.

2. My Sleeping Bag Coat...
This is another great deal. I got it for $90, and I think it's regularly like $200. Before I moved to NY I wasn't a fan of the long down coat because to me the purpose of a down coat is it's functionality and how functional could a long down coat be? Well, in the city, VERY VERY functional. Once I started wearing this baby I couldn't stop -- She kept me warm all winter.

3. My New Patagonia Fleece...
I couldn't find a picture of the fleece I purchased at the good old Patagonia outlet this winter, but you get the idea. There's nothing more comfy than a pullover fleece. I got mine this year for like $40 (for a Patagonia, that's a super good deal!), and it's super cute. It's a little bit chunkier than the basic synchilla, and it kept me toasty all winter long. Nici can tell you how fun it is to wear.. she got the same one!

4. My Paper Denim and Cloth Jeans...
These jeans which I got for $35 (normally $110) at Anthro became my staple jeans for the winter. They're skinny and so they're super cute with flats or in my boots, and they're a cute grey color. When I wore them with my sister-in-law she said she had some that looked like them when she was 10. That makes them fashionable, doesn't it?

5. My Favorite Chap stick...
So.. my entire life I've been addicted to Mentholatum. I think you're really only supposed to use it when you're sick or something, but I carry it around with me and use it all day, every day. It's my mom's fault that I'm a major addict. Anyways, I've never been able to find lip stuff that I love as much as my Mentholatum, until I got this stuff from Bath and Body Works. It's so yummy, and it's a bit smaller and easier to carry around than the tub of the other stuff. My lips made it through the winter thanks to this!

There you have it... My "must have for winter list." Now, I loved these items all winter, but let me tell you... If I have to wear one of them in the next nine months I must just kill myself. Can spring please get here already?
